Network Engineer

Handled outage and maintenance tickets servicing more than 20000 users across more than 12 sites since March 2016 through onsite and remote troubleshooting assistance for layer 1 - 3 issues, hardware installations of new and upgraded routers, switches, McAfee intrusion prevention systems, Aruba wireless controllers, Riverbed Steelhead WANX’s, device configurations and reconfigurations, and LAN/WAN outage recovery.

• Troubleshooting outages and resolve network related issues.
• Local element for COMSEC - given briefings on troubleshooting TACLANES, Trained to re-key the TACLANES.
• Install and upgrade network devices and components. This includes switches, routers, and network monitoring devices.
• Expected to understand, implement, and follow processes in accordance with current policies and procedures. Performed escalation and additional tasks as directed.

• Investigated, resolved, documented, and reported the cause and corrective actions in the Incident Management System for all incidents assigned by the Service Desk

• This position requires an active DoD Clearance (Secret, Top Secret, Top Secret/SCI) or the ability to be obtain an (Interim Secret, Interim Top Secret)
• Because an active or interim DoD clearance is required, U.S. Citizenship is required

Certification Required: Security+ (or 8570 equivalent), and ability to obtain CCNA in 6 months

Top Skills Required:

• 4 years of experience with cisco technologies, including routing protocols, switches, and troubleshooting routers -Install and upgrade network devices and components. This includes switches, routers, and network monitoring devices. -Experience must include operational support, and configuration of network devices such as servers, routers, switches, associated software tools, and cabling in a large LAN/MAN/BAN/WAN environment -Must have CCNA within 6 months., Knowledgeable engineer in the field of Ethernet and IP data engineering with 4 plus years’ experience as a Network Technician.

• Position requires a high level of project coordination skills to manage the execution of maintenance activities and network outages.
• Fundamental understanding of the OSI Model is required.
• Experience must include operational support, and configuration of network devices such as servers, routers, switches, associated software tools, and cabling in a large LAN/MAN/BAN/WAN environment.
• Knowledge of network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP is a Plus.
• Knowledge and experience working with wireless technologies, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and WAN Accelerators and associated technologies is highly desirable.
• You will be part of a Team of Network Technicians and Engineers.
