Job description

The selected candidate will be responsible for the installation, repair, overhaul, and operational testing of electrical systems aboard ships, supporting the Refueling Complex Overhaul program., * Install, repair, and test electrical systems on ships.

  • Support the Refueling Complex Overhaul program.
  • Read and interpret drawings related to chill water, ventilation, and steam systems.
  • Conduct inspections and testing, including flange/fitting inspections and hydrostatic testing.
  • Assess and repair corrosion on shipboard systems.
  • Replace or repair flow regulators, solenoids, temperature regulating valves, and isolation valves.
  • Mentor, train, and teach coworkers and customers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair shipboard ventilation systems, such as cooling coils and preheaters.

Requirements

  • Experience with naval ventilation systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Technical Work Document.
  • Hands-on experience with US Navy 3-M processes and documentation.
  • Mentoring and training experience.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of ventilation systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in welding, including structural, steel, and carbon steel welding.
  • Knowledge of vertical/horizontal welding and X-ray procedures.
  • Experience in shipyard operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $28.00/hr.
