Job description

The Senior Software Engineer II - Self-Serve Productivity will play a key role in enhancing the organization’’s central data platform, Portal. This position focuses on developing user-facing tools that improve data accessibility and trust across the company. The role requires collaboration with data professionals and product teams to design and implement solutions that empower data practitioners and support company-wide data initiatives.

  1. Responsibilities:
  • Lead frontend architecture and product development for Portal with a focus on UI/UX quality and performance.

  • Contribute to backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and related infrastructure as needed.

  • Drive new initiatives to evolve Portal as a unified data platform.

  • Mentor team members and promote engineering best practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data pain points and develop self-serve solutions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in software engineering.

  • Expertise in frontend technologies, including React and TypeScript, with experience delivering polished user interfaces.

  • Proficiency in backend development with Python and familiarity with APIs and data systems.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience with data infrastructure tools such as Airflow, Snowflake, and dbt.

  • Experience working within large codebases and cross-functional teams.

  • Product-oriented mindset with the ability to balance urgency and quality.

  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership.

Preferred:

  • Experience with internal developer or data tools.

  • Knowledge of data catalog, lineage, or metadata systems.

  • Leadership experience in frontend architecture or design systems.

  • Bachelor’’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience.

Benefits & conditions

  1. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
  • Compensation varies by location and candidate experience.

  • US base pay ranges include:

  • CA, NY, CT, NJ: $230,000 to $242,500 USD

  • WA: $220,000 to $232,000 USD

  • OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $211,000 to $222,500 USD

  • All other states: $192,000 to $202,500 USD

  • The role is eligible for equity grants and annual refresh grants.
