Job description

The Software Architect will provide staff augmentation services focusing on application development, enhancement, support, ongoing maintenance, mentoring, and architecting expertise. The primary technical focus spans a ColdFusion and SQL Server environment, migrating legacy MS Access and ColdFusion systems to modernized, state-supported platforms, and adhering to Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) principles., * Evaluate existing and emerging technologies alongside business requirements to design efficient, portable, and scalable technical solutions.

  • Manage analysis, modeling, design, coding, testing, and maintenance across all phases of development within the current ColdFusion/SQL Server environment, while strategically planning migrations to modern ITS-supported platforms.
  • Create thorough documentation and technical “How-To” presentations concerning application architecture and active software environments.
  • Document and track project milestones and task progressions using the internal tracking system.
  • Enhance and reinforce application, database, and system-level security metrics utilizing secure development principles, database integrity policies, and standard NYS authentication/authorization mechanisms.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex application issues across current production and future state platforms.
  • Collaborate directly with end-users to discover, document, and successfully implement technical business requirements.
  • Provide SQL Server database administration, database design, and backend development specifically tailored to support integrated ColdFusion systems.
  • Execute platform upgrades, apply software patches, identify system vulnerabilities, and proactively address exploit risks.

Requirements

Mandatory Core Requirements (Pass/Fail)

  • Role Expectation: Proven ability to drive high-level design choices, establish software coding standards, select tools/platforms, and design complex, multi-leveled architectures for large-scale enterprise software systems.
  • Skill Level: Expert (Requires 84+ months of deep industry experience, providing technical guidance to large teams, and a proven track record as a top tier professional in the field).

Technical Requested Qualifications

  • ColdFusion Administration: 84 months of experience handling ColdFusion administration and programming workflows.
  • IIS Web Server: 84 months of experience managing Microsoft IIS web server administration.
  • SQL Server Administration: 84 months of experience executing SQL Server administration, relational database design, and backend development.
  • SQL Server Toolsets: 84 months of experience leveraging the SQL Server development stack, specifically Management Studio and Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) for Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Business Analysis & Architecture: 72 months of experience interfacing with end-users to gather business needs, translating those discoveries into formal application specifications, and architecting/maintaining ColdFusion ecosystems based on those standards.
  • Mentoring & Leadership: 60 months of experience training, guiding, and mentoring technical development staff.
  • Framework Migration (Java / .NET): 84 months of experience coding in ASP.NET / VB.NET or Java, including a portfolio of migrating legacy systems over to modern frameworks.
  • Source Control Management: 84 months of experience using standard code controllers such as VSS, CVS, or GitHub.
  • CMS & Alternative Coding: 48 months of experience coding within Drupal or PHP environments.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
