Job description

This position requires onsite in Tucson, AZ and an active Secret security Clearance. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire.

Solidus is seeking a skilled and collaborative Digital Design Engineer to join our defense engineering team. In this role, you will own the full development lifecycle-including design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration-of critical digital electronic modules and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) for missile applications.

Day in the Life:

  • Architect and design complex, high-reliability CCAs and digital electronic modules
  • Lead hardware through initial schematic capture, layout routing oversight, simulation, component selection, and prototype laboratory testing
  • Collaborate with systems, software, and test teams to integrate hardware into larger missile subsystems
  • Develop test plans and perform hands-on laboratory debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators
  • Generate technical design packages, worst-case circuit analyses (WCCA), and engineering change orders
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s or 6 years of experience with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field
  • Hardware design experience (aerospace or defense industry preferred)
  • Strong collaborative mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills for team-based environments
  • Secret clearance
  • Proven experience designing digital systems embedded with microprocessors, microcontrollers, and FPGAs
  • Direct experience implementing and routing memory architectures such as DDR3/DDR4, Flash, and SRAM
  • Practical design and layout familiarity with high-speed protocols including PCIe and Ethernet
  • Experience implementing board-level communications via I2C, SPI, and UART
  • Proficiency with industry-standard ECAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics/Siemens Xpedition)
  • Cultural fit amongst a collaborative team environment

Benefit selection, customer contractual specifications, relevant work experience, skills, competencies, certifications, and clearance status will influence the final salary.
