Job description

  • Manage, monitor, and support installed systems and infrastructure.

  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.

  • Proactively maintain high levels of system and infrastructure availability, performance, and security.

  • Monitor application and system performance, identify bottlenecks, recommend solutions, and work with developers or vendors to implement fixes.

  • Maintain and improve security, backup, disaster recovery, and redundancy strategies.

  • Write and maintain scripts or automation to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

  • Participate in the design and improvement of information systems and operational support processes.

  • Provide second- and third-level technical support for infrastructure, systems, and escalated issues.

  • Work with vendors, internal IT staff, developers, and site personnel to resolve technical problems.

  • Help establish and maintain infrastructure standards across multiple locations.

  • Support and mentor technical team members by helping create clear processes, documentation, and expectations.

Requirements

We are looking for an IT professional who is ready to take ownership of infrastructure, systems reliability, and standardization across the organization. This role is well suited for someone with a strong technical foundation who wants to grow into broader design ownership, support a team of technical experts, and help deliver dependable service for mission-critical business and plant operations.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Information Technology, Computer Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering and Analysis, or related hands-on infrastructure experience. Candidates should be comfortable taking responsibility for technical systems, learning complex environments, improving standards, and helping drive reliable, secure, and well-supported IT operations.

This position will require onsite visits to our main office, feed mills, and plant locations to collaborate with team members, evaluate systems, assist with setup, and support troubleshooting efforts. The role also requires the willingness to travel for 2-7 days at a time a few times per year.

An ideal candidate would be located within approximately one hour of Clinton, NC, including areas such as Raleigh, Wilmington, or Fayetteville., + Hands-on experience with servers, networking, virtualization, backups, security tools, and enterprise infrastructure.

  • Ability to take ownership of technical problems from investigation through resolution.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a willingness to learn unfamiliar systems.

  • Ability to document standards, processes, and technical findings clearly.

  • Comfortable working with both technical teams and non-technical business users.

  • Willingness to visit plant and office locations as needed.

  • Strong sense of responsibility, follow-through, and service-minded support.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience in designing, installing, and troubleshooting Windows Server and Linux environments

  • Proven working experience designing network architecture (L2, L3, VLANs, ACLs, Firewalls, VPNs, IPSEC, Routing, SDN, etc.)

  • Proven working experience with virtualization design and implementation (VMware, VSAN)

  • Experience with Email services and troubleshooting (Headers, MX Records, Mail Trace, Security and Compliance)

  • Experience with monitoring systems

  • Solid scripting skills (shell scripts, Powershell, Python)

  • Solid Office 365 Administration knowledge

  • Solid SQL Server knowledge
