Job description

Role: Sr. Cognos Reports Developer with Framework Manager and Healthcare Insurance experience, We are seeking a highly skilled Cognos Developer with deep expertise in Framework Manager to join our healthcare analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex reporting solutions that empower our clinicians and administrators to make data-driven decisions. You will bridge the gap between complex healthcare data sources (EHR, Claims, Billing) and intuitive end-user insights, ensuring our metadata models are scalable, high-performing, and HIPAA-compliant., * Metadata Modeling: Lead the design and development of robust metadata models in Framework Manager, including physical, business, and presentation layers.

  • Report & Dashboard Development: Create sophisticated reports, active reports, and interactive dashboards using Cognos Analytics (v11.x/12.x) Report Studio and Dashboarding.
  • Healthcare Data Integration: Navigate and query complex healthcare schemas (e.g., Epic Clarity/Caboodle, Cerner, or Allscripts) to extract meaningful KPIs like Patient Readmission Rates, HCAHPS scores, and RVUs.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize report performance and SQL queries to handle large-scale healthcare datasets efficiently.
  • Data Governance: Ensure all reporting solutions adhere to HIPAA regulations and internal data security policies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clinical leads and financial analysts to translate “medical speak” into technical requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in IBM Cognos development.
  • Technical Mastery: Proven track record with Cognos Framework Manager (DMR modeling, star schemas, and snowflake schemas).
  • SQL Proficiency: Advanced SQL skills for data profiling, troubleshooting, and complex joins across disparate healthcare databases.
  • Industry Knowledge is a plus: Minimum 2 years of experience working in a Healthcare environment with a solid understanding of clinical workflows or healthcare financial cycles.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Systems, or a related field.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Experience: Direct experience with EMR database structures.
  • ETL Knowledge: Familiarity with DataStage or Informatica is a major plus.
  • Cloud Awareness: Experience with Cognos on Cloud or integrating with Snowflake/Azure data lakes.
  • Soft Skills: A “detective” mindset-the ability to look at a data discrepancy and hunt down the root cause in the source system.
