Job description

As a Game Design Generalist at Lion Studios, you will be the creative engine driving the next generation of mobile hits. You will partner with diverse external studios to ideate and prototype fresh concepts, navigating them through our rigorous multi-stage development pipeline; from initial spark to worldwide release and long-term live operations.

This role demands a mastery of the hybrid-casual landscape, requiring you to blend accessible mechanics with sophisticated monetization and retention techniques used by the industry’s top-performing titles. If you are a self-starter who thrives in a high-autonomy environment where you can create without heavy oversight, and where your success is met with outsized rewards, this is the most fulfilling design seat in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with diverse external development teams to guide game concepts from initial ideation through global launch.
  • Design core gameplay loops that combine hyper-casual accessibility with mid-core depth, including meta-progression and social features.
  • Integrate sophisticated IAP and Ad-tech systems to maximize LTV without compromising player retention.
  • Navigate games through a multi-stage development funnel, ensuring all design milestones meet high-performance benchmarks.
  • Lead post-launch strategy by using player data to design seasonal events, new content, and economy re-balancing.
  • Collaborate with product, data and analytics teams to use data in design.
  • Continuously monitor market trends to suggest new game concepts or features for exploration.

Requirements

  • At least 4+ years of experience as a game designer.
  • Strong analytical skills, including interpreting player data, running A/B tests with the Product team and using analytics to inform design decisions.
  • Deep understanding of game design principles, mechanics, and monetization, particularly in the puzzle genre.
  • Strong creative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to align design with the product vision.
  • Advanced analytical skills, ability to spot patterns and trends.
  • Excellent communication with designers, product managers and other teams.

Desired Skills

  • Game design experience in Match-3 or similar puzzle genres is a huge plus
  • Familiarity with Figma or similar visual collaboration software for mock-ups
  • Track record of publishing/working on successful hypercasual, casual, or AAA titles
  • Prototyping concepts, either with code or AI

Benefits & conditions

  • 25 days holiday: Enjoy 25 days of paid holiday, in addition to bank holidays to relax and refresh throughout the year.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Propel your career with continuous opportunities for professional development.
  • Supplemental Health Insurance: Continentale: annual budget of 1200 eur - reimbursement for healthcare outside of public plans (glasses, massages, dental treatments etc.)
  • Public Transportation reimbursement: 100% of public transportation to the office via BVG ticket is covered
  • Daily Free Lunch: Order free food from Wolt when at the office
  • Pension plan: Opt-in to employer contributed pension plan, operated with Degura
