Job description

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for delivering a modern, robust and responsive information governance function across a complex organisational landscape. You will lead the development and implementation of the Client’s information strategy, oversee compliance frameworks, and act as the Data Protection Officer for Client.

You will also serve as theDeputy Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO), providing strategic advice to senior leaders and representing the Council across local, regional and national forums.

Requirements

You will bring demonstrable knowledge and practical experience of legislative requirements and best practice across:

  • Information assurance and governance
  • Information rights and data protection
  • Records management
  • Data standards and open data

You will have a strong track record of applying this expertise within a large, complex organisation with diverse data environments, alongside experience of:

  • Leading, developing and motivating high-performing teams
  • Producing and using performance reporting to drive improvement
  • Managing strategic projects and governance programmes
  • Influencing senior stakeholders and operating confidently in high-profile public sector environments
  • Managing budgets and supporting organisational change

You will be an excellent communicator with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills and a passion for ensuring information is recognised as a strategic business asset. Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience delivering Information Governance services within a large organisation
  • Experience managing teams and driving service performance
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and/or a relevant Information Governance qualification
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK information governance legislation and practice

Desirable:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Information Governance, Information Rights, Information Management, Law, or a related discipline
  • Public sector and complex budget management experience
