Job description

Our enterprise client in Oklahoma City, OK is seeking an experienced IBM i & IBM Storage Infrastructure Engineer to join their data center operations team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, monitoring, and break/fix support of IBM Power Systems (IBM i / AS/400) environments and IBM enterprise storage platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on expertise in IBM midrange and storage technologies and thrives in a high-availability, mission-critical production environment. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring active participation in an on-call rotation. Key Responsibilities The IBM i & IBM Storage Infrastructure Engineer will provide L2/L3 support, administration, and break/fix services for IBM AS/400 (IBM i / Power Systems) environments. Core responsibilities include performing OS upgrades, applying PTFs and cumulative fix packs, managing subsystems, configuring job scheduling, and maintaining system security and user profiles. The engineer will write and maintain CL programs and scripts to support operational automation and system stability. On the storage side, the engineer will administer and maintain IBM enterprise storage platforms including the DS8000, FlashSystem, Storwize, and SAN Volume Controller (SVC). Responsibilities include LUN provisioning, volume group management, replication configuration, capacity planning, and performance tuning. The engineer will manage SAN fabric environments, including Brocade or Cisco fiber-channel zoning, multipathing, and connectivity between hosts and storage arrays.Additional responsibilities include monitoring infrastructure health through available toolsets, responding to alerts, and resolving incidents within defined SLAs. The engineer will perform root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring issues, document resolutions, and maintain up-to-date runbooks and operational procedures. Coordination with IBM for hardware failures, warranty claims, and technical escalations is expected. The role also encompasses patching, firmware updates, backup and recovery operations (including BRMS administration), and active participation in the change management process.Required QualificationsRequirementDetailsIBM i AdministrationHands-on administration of IBM AS/400 (IBM i) on Power Systems, including OS upgrades, PTF management, subsystem and job schedulingIBM Storage PlatformsDirect experience with IBM DS8000, FlashSystem, Storwize, and/or SAN Volume Controller (SVC)SAN ConceptsStrong understanding of fiber-channel fabric, zoning, multipathing, and replicationBackup & RecoveryExperience with BRMS or equivalent IBM i backup management toolsITIL ProcessesFamiliarity with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change managementOn-Site AvailabilityAbility to work on-site in Oklahoma City, OK and participate in an on-call rotationPreferred QualificationsCandidates who hold relevant IBM certifications - such as IBM Certified System Administrator - i or IBM Certified Specialist for storage platforms - are strongly preferred. Scripting experience in CL, shell, or PowerShell for operational automation is highly desirable. Prior experience supporting large retail, pharmacy, or financial services enterprise environments is a significant advantage, as is experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or third-party managed services delivery model.Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time, on-site position based in Oklahoma City, OK, supporting a 24x7 enterprise production data center. The role requires participation in an on-call rotation and the ability to respond to after-hours incidents as needed. The environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and demands a high degree of professionalism, accountability, and technical precision.

Pay: Up to $103,919.55 per year
