Job description

We are seeking an experienced AS400 / IBM i Infrastructure Analyst to support and manage enterprise IBM i (AS/400) environments. This role focuses on system administration, platform stability, performance optimization, and security for mission-critical IBM i infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience managing IBM i systems and ensuring high availability across production environments. What You’ll Do:

  • Administer, monitor, and support IBM i (AS/400) environments across production, development, and test systems Perform system-level tasks including: OS upgrades and patching (PTFs) System configuration and environment setup
  • Release management and maintenance Manage and maintain: Subsystems and job queues User profiles, authorization lists, and security settings Libraries, objects, and system resources Monitor and optimize system performance, including CPU, memory, and disk utilization
  • Perform capacity planning and performance tuning Support high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions such as PowerHA, MIMIX, or iCluster Execute and validate backup and recovery procedures, including restore testing Troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues, incidents, and performance bottlenecks

Requirements

Required Skills : 5 years of experience working with IBM i (AS/400) environments Strong hands-on experience with: IBM i system administration and infrastructure support OS upgrades, PTF management, and system maintenance Job management, subsystems, and system monitoring Experience managing: User security (profiles, permissions, authorization lists) System performance and resource utilization Experience supporting production environments with high availability requirements Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with HA/DR solutions (PowerHA, MIMIX, iCluster, or similar) Familiarity with compliance and audit requirements (SOX, PCI, etc.) Experience with automation or scripting (CL, Shell, or equivalent) Exposure to monitoring and reporting tools Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments Familiarity with integration between IBM i and other enterprise systems What Makes This Role a Great Fit You enjoy working at the system and infrastructure level You are comfortable owning platform stability, performance, and uptime You thrive in environments where reliability and precision are critical You enjoy troubleshooting and improving complex systems
