IDOL Support Engineer

Lemont, IL / Oak Ridge, TN / Germantown, MD (Hybrid/Onsite as Needed) long Term Contract

IDOL Support Engineer to serve as the primary technical resource supporting an enterprise eLibrary platform built on OpenText/Micro Focus IDOL (Knowledge Discovery) technology.

This individual will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, optimizing, and modernizing the organization s enterprise search and content discovery platform while ensuring high availability, scalability, and overall system performance.

Responsibilities

• Administer, support, and maintain the OpenText/Micro Focus IDOL platform.
• Perform system upgrades, patches, and platform modernization initiatives.
• Optimize search performance, indexing, and retrieval capabilities.
• Support cloud migration and containerization efforts.
• Enhance metadata extraction, entity recognition, and search relevance.
• Implement and support AI-driven search and knowledge discovery capabilities.
• Integrate IDOL APIs with customer-facing applications.
• Troubleshoot complex search, ingestion, indexing, and retrieval issues.
• Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and customer stakeholders to improve the overall user experience.

• Strong experience supporting OpenText/Micro Focus IDOL (Knowledge Discovery).
• Experience with enterprise search platforms and search optimization.
• Knowledge of metadata extraction, entity extraction, and content indexing.
• Experience with cloud technologies and containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes preferred).
• Familiarity with REST APIs and application integrations.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments.
