Job description

We are looking for a Controls Engineering Technician to join our engineering team and support the development, testing, and implementation of controls systems for automated conveyor and material handling equipment., As a Controls Engineering Technician, you’ll play a hands-on role supporting the development, testing, troubleshooting, and deployment of automation systems used in warehouse automation and conveyor environments.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical and hands-on side of engineering - working with PLC/HMI programming, electrical controls, testing, manufacturing support, and troubleshooting in a fast-paced automation environment.

You’ll work closely with Controls Engineers, Manufacturing, and Integration teams to support production, new product development, and system performance.

What You’ll Be Doing

Controls Programming & Automation Support

  • Write, debug, and modify PLC, HMI, PC-based, and controls programs using various software platforms
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, and validation of automation systems and controls products
  • Assist with electrical controls troubleshooting and system diagnostics

Engineering Documentation & Product Support

  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings for manufacturing and cost estimates
  • Develop owner’s manuals, testing procedures, and engineering documentation
  • Support new product introductions, design changes, and engineering updates

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Partner with manufacturing and integration teams to support:
  • Control panel assembly
  • Wiring and component placement
  • Production testing and troubleshooting
  • Provide technical support to shop personnel during manufacturing and assembly

Testing, Training & Field Support

  • Conduct testing and evaluation of new and existing products
  • Develop and document testing protocols for production environments
  • Provide occasional field support during installations and troubleshooting as needed

Requirements

Do you have experience in Rockwell Studio 5000?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field

  • 1-2+ years of controls, automation, electrical, or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical control circuits
  • Proficiency with:
  • Rockwell Studio 5000
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • SolidWorks or 3D CAD software
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 79 standards preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and production teams

Preferred Backgrounds

Candidates with experience in warehouse automation, conveyor systems, controls engineering, panel building, industrial manufacturing, system integration, or material handling environments are highly encouraged to apply.

Experience with companies such as Dematic, Vanderlande, Daifuku/Intelligrated, Honeywell, Fortna, Swisslog, KNAPP, MHS, Bastian Solutions, or other industrial automation environments is a plus., * Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Controls/ Automation : 1 year (Preferred)

Benefits & conditions

$30 - $35 an hour - Full-time, Contract
