If you are interested in a challenging opportunity in a high-energy, team-oriented environment, you are encouraged to apply., Under the general supervision of the Telecommunications SystemsOperations Supervisor I (TSOS I), and/or technical guidance and support of a Telecommunications Systems Technician III (TST III), the Telecommunications Systems Technician II (TST II) is responsible for responding to and resolving public safety communications problems for State Agency clients. The duties are performed by following Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations, utilizing at a minimum, office-provided training, complex test equipment, computers, hand tools, the Telecommunications Division Manual (TDM), and technical literature. Incumbent communicates effectively on all written and verbal interactions, frequently interfacing with customers and co-workers to resolve issues and collaborate. The TST II maintains a professional and team-centered environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is an emergency response, homeland security, and disaster recovery agency and as a result, is a dynamic and exciting place to work in a team-oriented environment. Cal OES provides training to enhance the understanding of emergency and incident management to all employees.

The Public Safety Communications (PSC) Technical Services Branch provides a variety of services to PSC and the public safety agencies it serves. The Branch oversees the California Public Safety Microwave Network (CAPSNET), licensing of public safety radio spectrum with the FCC, and a host of ancillary services that support PSC’s service delivery.

In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description.
