Abbe Piels

Abbe Piels is a Solutions Engineer at Blacksmith, where she helps engineering teams make their CI faster and less painful. She spent the first stretch of her career as a software engineer before moving into solutions engineering. This shift was driven by realizing her favorite part of the work was always the collaboration: digging into a problem with someone, figuring out what they actually need, and helping them get there. Abbe studied Computer Science at the University of Rochester with a minor in public health, and has stayed active in Women in Computing, Girls Who Code, and the Grace Hopper community -  mentoring engineers early in their careers and making the case that communication is a technical skill, not a soft one.
