Sunil Murthy helps enterprises realize business value from Data and AI by bridging the gap between innovation and production-scale execution. As part of Forward Deployed Engineering, he focuses on helping organizations move generative and agentic AI initiatives beyond pilot exploration and into enterprise deployment. As Field CTO for Data & AI at IBM, Sunil serves as a trusted technical advisor to CIOs, CTOs, and CDOs across strategic accounts in banking, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, transportation, and government. He is often brought in when AI strategy meets architectural reality, helping executive teams navigate the complex journey from vision to implementation. His work spans AI strategy engagements, executive architecture workshops, industry-specific solution design, and production deployments. Through these efforts, he demonstrates real-world agentic workflows and measurable business outcomes rather than simply product capabilities. Sunil’s perspective is grounded in hands-on experience building and scaling technology businesses, not just advising them. Sunil has taken enterprise software products from concept to market, helping grow one product’s customer base fivefold within its first year. He has also led merger and acquisition due diligence efforts and built and managed teams across the United States and globally. Sunil previously led IBM’s Data & AI Global Alliances, where he expanded the Global Systems Integrator ecosystem to 12 major firms, including Accenture, Deloitte, TCS, and Capgemini. Under his leadership, the alliance ecosystem generated more than $100 million in partner pipeline within 18 months. Today, Sunil’s focus is on agentic AI architecture, AI development lifecycle management, composable enterprise data architectures, and helping organizations build AI platforms as long-term strategic foundations rather than point solutions.
