Photonics Design Engineer - Semiconductors

• Design, model, and layout photonic components and integrated circuits using industry-standard tools.
• Set up and execute design of experiments (DoE) to validate and optimize photonic designs.
• Analyze test data to extract performance metrics and guide design improvements.
• Translate customer requirements into system-level concepts and PIC architectures.
• Contribute to the enhancement of existing photonic platforms.
• Maintain and update design libraries, documentation, and standard operating procedures.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Photonics Design Engineer to support the development and optimization of cutting-edge photonic integrated circuits (PICs) in Leuven. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in photonic component design, modeling, and layout, who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment., * Degree in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field (Master's or PhD preferred).

• Proven experience in photonic design and simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical, IPKISS, Synopsys, etc.).
• Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
• Familiarity with PIC fabrication processes and testing methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with silicon photonics or other integrated photonic platforms.
• Knowledge of optical communication systems and applications.
• Experience working with customer-driven design requirements.
