Job description
As Marketing Data Engineer you are the technical engine behind our measurement stack. You make tracking reliable, privacy safe and useful so spend decisions are evidence based and experiments move faster. This is a hands on role with real ownership, not a support queue. You will:
- Enables high-performing paid campaigns (via tROAS, CAPI, EC, etc.)
- Powers platform learning and experimentation
- Safeguards tracking integrity across apps, web, and our CDP

Your first 90 days
- Conversion tracking: Own client and server side setups for Google and Meta and deliver a reliable baseline for attribution and reporting, including dedup between ad platforms and business data.
- Consent management: Map current consent setups per brand and ship a plan to maximise performance within compliance boundaries in DE, FR and NL.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Own our tracking infrastructure: Manage event tracking (GA4, Segment, GTM, Firebase, MMP) across web, app, and server environments.
- Power campaign performance: Build conversion tracking and enable smart bidding via server-side integrations (CAPI, Google Enhanced Conversions, TikTok, Snap, etc.).
- Ensure data quality & attribution: standardise conversion definitions and UTMs, implement server side deduplication and Segment/GTM governance, and maintain a trusted cross brand attribution baseline.
- Embed privacy & compliance: Implement Consent Mode v2, integrate CMPs, and ensure GDPR-compliant tracking practices.
- Enable cross-platform visibility: Support mobile/app tracking with Firebase or AppsFlyer and align it with web
- Drive cross-team alignment: Collaborate with growth marketers, legal, data, and product teams to translate business needs into robust tracking plans.
- Co own the weekly performance marketing sync and the bi weekly tracking and measurement forum.

You will have authority to standardise conversion definitions and reporting, plus decision rights and input on tools (GA4, Mixpanel, Segment, MMP/MMM), with budget approved for consultants and stack upgrades., * Visibility & Ownership: Your work directly impacts how we spend and scale millions in paid media. You'll help unlock CAC efficiency, full-funnel visibility, and platform learning across Meta, Google, Snap, and TikTok.
- Tooling & Autonomy: build with a modern stack and real decision rights on tracking and attribution tooling; help shape the data culture of our growth team.
- Embedded in Growth: you'll sit in the performance marketing team - not off to the side - and collaborate closely with product, data, and legal. Your decisions will shape how growth works at Shine. Requirements
Do you have experience in SQL?, * Marketing or growth analytics experience with end to end experiments and clear readouts.
- Comfortable reading/writing code (HTML, JavaScript, APIs) for implementation/debugging
- Experience with GTM, GA4, server-side tracking, and tools like Segment or HubSpot
- Strong command of ad platform integrations (Google, Meta, TikTok, etc.)
- Solid understanding of CMPs, GDPR, and Consent Mode v2
- Skilled in attribution modeling (multi-touch, first/last click) and customer data platforms
- Excellent collaboration skills, comfortable working with cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; additional languages as French or German are a plus.
- Bonus: Experience with AppsFlyer, BigQuery/Snowflake, marketing mix modeling, or CCPA
- Managed CDP integrations across both web and mobile
