Job description

For Booking.com we're looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE I) to help build and maintain the backbone of their production systems. In this role, you'll focus on the reliability, scalability and performance of key services that support our business.

You will treat operations as a software problem, automating processes, improving observability and designing systems that run efficiently at scale. Your goal: to minimize manual effort, increase reliability and ensure our platforms remain fast, secure and resilient., * Support core team capabilities: configuration management, secret management, certificate management and runtime configuration.

  • React to alerts, troubleshoot incidents and lead root cause analysis and long-term resolution.
  • Automate repetitive operational tasks and maintain automation systems.
  • Build and maintain monitoring, alerting and observability tools to improve reliability and performance visibility.
  • Own systems end-to-end from deployment through production operations ensuring security, integrity and availability.
  • Lead or participate in incident response and postmortem reviews.
  • Partner with development teams to integrate observability and resilience into every stage of the delivery process.
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements in performance, processes and tooling.

Requirements

This position is ideal for an experienced SRE who thrives in complex environments and enjoys combining hands-on engineering with strategic reliability improvements., * 5-8 years of experience in Site Reliability, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex, highly available systems.
  • Proficiency in Go and Python development.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, AWS, and bare metal environments.
  • Experience with certificate management and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
  • Deep understanding of observability, performance and scaling strategies.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Vault, Puppet, or PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with continuous delivery and experimentation frameworks.
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement and automation.
