Job description
The Data Manager is responsible for managing the School's database and providing academic and other data analysis for the Senior Leadership Team and other stakeholders and reports to the Deputy Head (Academic).
The tasks and responsibilities of the role include:

Management of the School database/Management Information System (iSAMS)

Administer the School reporting procedure

Work with the Cover Manager and the Deputy Head (Academic) to write the cover rota for teaching staff

Administer baseline testing for new year groups and new pupils and disseminate this information to staff

Set up new staff on the database

Provide training for staff on iSAMS
-
Keep up to date with developments in iSAMS and disseminate this information to relevant staff, * Complete the annual rollover of the database during the first week of the summer holidays to include the import of the new timetable and allocation of pupils to new classes

Assist with analysis of internal and public examination results and oversee ongoing academic tracking and present the information in a user friendly way

To administer online and in-person Parents' Evenings (using the SchoolCloud system), arranging appointments and liaising with teaching and pastoral staff and with parents.

To manage pages on the School's VLE (Firefly) pertaining to academic data, reporting, parents evenings and tracking

To manage and compile the annual DfE census for the School

To work closely with the Network Manager to ensure the database is up to date and running smoothly

Keep up to date with developments in Data Protection law and disseminate information as appropriate

To attend the four INSET days per year which occur at the beginning of each term in September, January and April

Any other reasonable duties as required by the Head or Deputy Head
Requirements

be ICT literate and skilled at using Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets;

Experience of a School MIS and specifically ISAMS would be an advantage
-
Knowledge of XML would be an advantage

be numerate and comfortable in working with large amounts of data

be able to present data analysis in a way which is easy to understand for colleagues
-
have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to relate well to school staff, pupils and parents

be able to prioritise and manage workload

be able to work in an organised and methodical way and have sound organisational skills

be able to work accurately and to deadlines

b. Salary : The annual FTE salary for this role will be £40,000- £45,000, which equates to an actual salary of £15,100 - £16,975 per annum subject to experience. The salary will be paid in monthly installments. A higher salary may be available for an exceptional candidate, for example with experience of XML.
c. Pension : The successful candidate will be auto-enrolled into the School's pension scheme if eligible .
d. Hours of work : The successful candidate will be required to work an average of 20 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, term time only, plus 2 weeks during the holidays (35 weeks in total). Please note that a flexible approach to your hours will be necessary due to the nature of the post with the possibility of some working from home as agreed with the Line Manager. Annualised hours are 700; the salary includes an element of statutory holiday pay.
e. Notice Period : There will be a probationary period of one year during which time the notice period will be two months. Thereafter, the notice period required by either side to terminate your employment will be one full term .
