Job description

The SMS Routing Manager will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimising SMS routing strategies to maximise delivery quality, compliance, and profitability. The role requires strong analytical skills, technical knowledge of telecoms/messaging platforms, and the ability to negotiate and maintain strong relationships with global carrier partners., * Routing & Traffic Management

  • Oversee daily routing decisions for A2P SMS traffic across multiple global carriers.
  • Implement and maintain Least Cost Routing (LCR), Quality-Based Routing (QBR), and compliance-driven routing strategies.
  • Monitor DLRs, latency, and delivery performance to ensure optimal customer experience.
  • Carrier & Vendor Relations
  • Manage relationships with global MNOs, aggregators, and interconnect partners.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, establish passthrough agreements, and monitor carrier commitments.
  • Ensure regulatory and commercial compliance across all routes.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Work closely with NOC and technical teams to troubleshoot delivery issues.
  • Analyse routing and financial performance, providing regular reporting to senior management.
  • Collaborate with product and commercial teams to identify new opportunities for growth.
  • Risk & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to local regulations, operator restrictions, and anti-spam policies.
  • Implement measures to prevent fraud, grey routing, and non-compliant traffic.

Requirements

Fraud Detection, Cdrs, Analytical Skills, Hubs, Management Skills, Platforms, * Minimum 3-5 years' experience in SMS wholesale, carrier relations, or routing management.

  • In-depth understanding of A2P SMS market dynamics, routing principles, and messaging platforms (e.g., SMSCs, hubs, API integrations).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets, CDRs, and DLR reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in LCR/QBR management and vendor negotiations.
  • Knowledge of telecoms regulations and messaging compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and resilience in a fast-paced environment.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Familiarity with fraud detection and anti-spam tools.
  • Experience with billing/revenue assurance in telecom environments.
  • Knowledge of SMPP, SS7, and SIP protocols.
