Typical Activities Working in collaboration with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Product Management and Technical Leadership, the Senior/Principal Systems Engineer will:
- Lead the definition, design, and delivery of product architectures and integrated system solutions across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear, verifiable system requirements and architectures.
- Own the development and maintenance of system and product architectures that ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Define and manage integration strategies, ensuring seamless interaction between software, hardware and network components.
- Support verification and validation planning and execution throughout the system lifecycle.
- Apply systems engineering best practice and standards to ensure quality and compliance.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to capture requirements and manage technical interfaces.
- Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to project teams on systems engineering principles and practices.
- Contribute to process improvement and knowledge sharing across the engineering organisation.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Systems engineering?, * Proven experience leading systems engineering activities within complex, multi-disciplinary environments.
- Strong background in system architecture definition, requirements management, and system integration.
- Ability to apply holistic, lifecycle-based systems thinking to complex challenges.
- Experience with requirements capture, traceability, and validation across the full engineering lifecycle.
- Knowledge of verification and validation processes and industry standards.
- Understanding of security best practices, including secure design principles and threat modelling.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex technical information for diverse audiences.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
- Ability to lead by example, demonstrating technical leadership, integrity, and accountability.
- Adaptability to evolving project needs, technologies, and stakeholder priorities.
Desirable
- Experience within the Cyber Security or Defence domain.
- Familiarity with secure mobility or AI-driven deception technologies.
- Experience using systems engineering tools and repositories.
- Knowledge of relevant industry frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 15288, INCOSE).
- Background in integration of software, hardware, and firmware systems., * Hold a relevant degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or have equivalent professional experience; and,
- Be a British citizen; and
- Hold or be eligible for UK National Security Vetting (NSV) - SC level clearance (DV desirable).
