Job description

You'll be instrumental in delivering the IT backbone for a major new campus development, a 300,000 sq ft world-class facility including research laboratories and clinical space, set for completion in 2027. This is a unique opportunity to ensure technology is seamlessly integrated from the ground up, creating a secure, scalable, and future-ready environment. The Role: IT and Construction Project Manager

Reporting to the IT Director, you will be the primary IT lead coordinating all technology-related elements across multiple building fit-out projects. Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Project Leadership: Manage the planning, execution, and delivery of all IT components (network, AV, security systems, structured cabling) within construction timelines and budgets.
  • Liaison & Integration: Act as the critical link between IT, construction teams, architects, and third-party contractors, ensuring IT requirements are embedded from early design stages through to handover.
  • Documentation & Risk: Create IT-specific project plans, maintain detailed RAID logs, and proactively identify and mitigate risks related to infrastructure and cybersecurity.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner with senior leadership and technical teams to capture requirements, manage external vendors/suppliers, and provide clear progress reporting.
  • Operational Handover: Lead testing, commissioning, and documentation to ensure a smooth transition of new spaces into business-as-usual (BAU) operations.

A leading global Technology and Science Institute, committed to turning pioneering research into high-impact solutions across health, climate, food security, and AI, is seeking a highly skilled individual to join their team in South Oxford., * Proven experience as an IT Project Manager, specifically in large-scale construction, fit-out, or campus development projects.

  • Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networking, structured cabling, Audio-Visual (AV) systems, security systems, and smart building technologies.
  • Excellent vendor and contract management skills, with experience in procurement and negotiation.
  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, Agile).
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • A highly organised and adaptable approach, capable of managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities.
  • Must live within an hour of the site and be prepared to commute to site 5 days per week.
