Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Modernisation Engineer to support our IT Obsolescence programme. This role focuses on modernising the technology estate by replacing, upgrading, or decommissioning end-of-life systems, ensuring secure and efficient delivery with full production readiness and operational transition., * Manage and coordinate OS upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning activities.

• Support application teams with middleware upgrades (MQ, WebSphere, BizTalk).
• Perform asset discovery and application mapping to inform obsolescence planning.
• Ensure infrastructure changes meet production readiness and operational transition requirements.
• Assist with problem management, root cause analysis, and incident investigations.
• Oversee delivery across internal and external technical teams.

• Broad understanding of operating systems (RHEL, Windows), databases (Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL), and middleware.
• Strong data analytical skills for aligning orphan assets to business areas.
• Hands-on experience in asset discovery and application mapping.
• Knowledge of Solution Architecture principles for end-to-end remediation.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOX) is advantageous.
• ITIL Foundation certification (required).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
