Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and technically skilled IT Systems Technician to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who is already working in a senior service desk, or IT Admin role, thrives in a dynamic IT Service Desk environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about delivering high-quality IT services. You will play a key role in supporting both internal and external customers by phone and remote connection, ensuring systems run smoothly, and contributing to continuous service improvement.
What an Ordinary Day Might Look Like:

Providing 1st and 2nd line support via phone and email, delivering reactive support for external and internal customers

Managing complex issues and supporting junior team members

Keeping all systems up to date managing, your own ticket queue (Halo PSA) and ensuring key metrics are adhered to.

Monitoring customer environments and responding to alerts

Performing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks remotely or on-site

Communicate with vendors and third parties

Contribute to building the knowledge base, sharing knowledge across the team.

Participating in scheduled on-call support as part of a rota

Conducting quality checks on delivery tasks

Providing support for internal infrastructure

Participating in managed services team initiatives.

Attending training sessions to stay current with technologies and standards
This role is office based in Manchester, Sale, and it's important that applicants are based within easy commute of the office.
Requirements

Technical Competencies:
- Email and Messaging System Management: Proficient in managing email systems
- Desktop Support: Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving desktop issues
- Cyber Security: Aware of cybersecurity best practice
- Server Administration: Proficient in managing and maintaining servers
- I.T. Networking Solutions: Proficient in supporting and troubleshooting network issues
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- 5 years proven experience in a technical support or IT service desk role
- Strong experience of desktop and server platforms (Windows10/11, Microsoft 365, Windows Server 2019/2022/2025)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks effectively
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence and use of own transport
- Clear understanding of cyber security principles e.g. Cyber Essentials
- Experience with virtualisation and/or Cloud technologies
Desirable:
- Relevant IT certifications / qualification (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, ITIL, IT Apprenticeship Level 3 or above)
- A-Level or equivalent
- Experience with remote monitoring tools and ticketing systems
- Exposure with vendors including SonicWall, Arcserve and CrowdStrike
- Experience with virtualisation technologies including VMWare, Hyper-V and Azure
