Job description
We're looking for a Senior System Engineer to our Core Banking Engineering team at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc.
You'll have the opportunity to work with a team of engineers supporting applications deployed in the cloud. Including but not limited to the following services in AWS: Kubernetes Containers, EC2s, RDS, S3, EBS, EFS.

You will be working alongside a team of senior System engineers reporting to the Engineering Lead.
There will be opportunities to pass on your knowledge and skillset to more junior colleagues, while furthering your own development and learning.
Exposure to Agile methodologies would be beneficial as they are key to our way of working.
What you'll be doing
- Collaborate with the team and stakeholders to provide an exceptional level of service.
- Manage and improve the services we provide using the tools available to move the team closer to reaching our wider long term technology goals.
- Balance managing service with ensuring the team meets its compliance requirements.
- Contributing to the teams wider goals while passing on your knowledge and experience to more junior members of the team.
Requirements
- Experience with cloud based technologies, including AWS (Must). We are using AWS exclusively for now, a good knowledge of building and running at scale within EC2, RDS and beyond is ideal.
- Hands on experience with deploying infrastructure as code, and automation. We currently use Jenkins as our pipeline tool.
- Experience working with vendors and stakeholders to provide a high level of service and service improvements.
- Experience of working with and supporting Windows Servers
And if you have any of these, even better
- Experience with containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of Agile practices and ceremonies.
- Experience with Linux Operating system to a basic level.
