Job description
If you just want to collect a paycheck and leave at 5pm sharp every day... well, we respect that, but we're probably not the right fit.
Requirements
Month 1: Help finish our platform rewrite (FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Vue3)
-
Months 3-6: Build a new system for consult planning, organization, and intelligent follow-up
-
6+ months: Make the platform smarter - integrate LLMs, add automation, reduce manual work for coaches
You'll be primarily backend (Python/FastAPI) but comfortable jumping into frontend (Vue3) when needed. Not full-stack, but not scared of `` tags either.
Our Stack
-
Backend: Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, Redis
-
Frontend: Vue3 (you'll touch this occasionally - we promise it won't bite), 3+ years of professional Python development experience
-
Strong FastAPI or similar framework experience (Flask, Django)
-
Comfortable with relational databases and ORMs (bonus points if you actually enjoy writing SQL)
-
Can work independently and take ownership
-
Adaptable: You have strong opinions, loosely held - willing to align with team decisions
-
Speak Dutch and/or English
-
Able to work hybrid in Ghent, Belgium (2-3 days/week in office - you don't need to live here, but you need to show up)
Nice-to-haves:
-
Experience with LLM/AI integration (prompt engineering, RAG, agents) or eagerness to learn
-
Vue3 or modern frontend framework experience
-
Built systems from 0*1 before
-
Worked in early-stage startups or small teams
-
Health tech or data-intensive domain experience
You'll struggle here if you:
-
Need heavy direction or prefer clear, stable processes (we're a startup - ambiguity is a feature, not a bug)
-
Only want to work on "cool" problems (sometimes we fix bugs and optimize queries - shocking, we know)
-
Prefer large companies with established structure
-
Can't handle shifting priorities or wearing multiple hats
Benefits & conditions
Competitive salary for the Belgian market
-
Equity/stock options - be an owner, not just an employee
-
Real impact: Shape product, tech stack, and culture as the third engineer
-
Work-life balance: Flexible schedule, family-friendly (many team members have kids - we get it, life happens)
-
Growth: Learn AI/LLM integration, system design, product thinking - skills that accelerate your career
-
Mission-driven: Build something that genuinely improves people's health and lives (yes, really)
