Job description
We are seeking a dedicated Business Support Officer to provide essential business support, enabling the Local Authority to meet its statutory obligations under current legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2014. This role is crucial in supporting the Senior SEN Support Officer with the processing of EHC needs assessment requests within legislated timeframes, ensuring the efficient delivery of our statutory duties.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support the processing of incoming EHC needs assessment requests.
- Input data on the Local Authority Capita system and generate task timelines.
- Record new requests and statutory deadlines on Excel and identify assessments for the pilot scheme.
- Circulate information to key stakeholders as per the requirements of The Change Programme.
- Provide high-quality and consistent business support with a good level of ICT skills.
- Manage data processing and ensure high accuracy in recording using typical ICT programmes and specialist Local Authority systems.
- Efficiently manage the SEN team general email address correspondence, requiring excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Work as part of the wider business support team and provide peer support with specific workload as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the wider service to improve consistency of process and service delivery.
- Demonstrate a willingness to develop own practice through professional development.
Requirements
- A Business and Administration qualification.
- An understanding of children with additional needs/SEND and their families.
- Demonstrable experience in a similarly demanding environment.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet statutory deadlines and organise own workload.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of professionals from Education, Health, Social Care, and Voluntary sectors.
- Awareness of safeguarding issues.
- Proven ability to use IT packages, including standard Microsoft Office software.
