Job description

You'll work with customers from a wide range of industries, and your day-to-day tasks may include:

  • Deploying new physical, virtual, and cloud-based solutions
  • Providing customer-facing support and troubleshooting hosting/server issues
  • Configuring and racking Juniper and Cisco switches and routers
  • Setting up backup solutions using Veeam and other technologies
  • Deploying and managing private cloud platforms (VMware, Proxmox)
  • Building and upgrading rackmount servers for internal and customer infrastructure
  • Managing and deploying load-balanced Linux hosting environments

Requirements

  • Experience building and configuring computer hardware
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, with some exposure to Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, CentOS, Rocky Linux, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • A strong technical mindset and enthusiasm for new technologies
  • A positive, customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to work shifts

Desired Skills & Experience

We are happy to train motivated candidates, but the ideal applicant would also have:

  • Familiarity with Proxmox
  • Confidence using Linux at the command line
  • Experience with LAMP stacks
  • Exposure to hosting control panels (cPanel, Plesk)
  • Understanding of DNS
  • Experience using Cisco or Juniper networking equipment in a datacentre environment
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (VMware, Xen, KVM, Hyper-V, Proxmox)
  • Previous experience building or maintaining rackmount server hardware (Supermicro, Dell, HP), * Cloud Computing

Benefits & conditions

  • Shift pattern: 4 days on / 4 days off, rotating shift pattern 4 day shifts - 4 day shifts - 4 nightsshifts (33% nightshifts)
  • Day shifts: 11 hours (7AM - 6PM or 9AM - 8PM)
  • Night shifts: 12 hours (7:30 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Initial training period: approx. 3 months, Monday-Friday, 9 AM-5 PM
  • Full on-the-job training provided
