Job description

Data Centre Engineer (SC) - Berkshire - Contract - £350.00 per day

Synergize Consulting are now hiring for a Data Centre Engineer to work at a leading consultancy client of ours on a contract basis.

The successful candidate will provide a high level of support to the running of a large data centre and will ensure that services are fully operational and are protected and secure.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage data centre capacity, including airflow and power analysis, and identifies and implements efficiency improvements where required.

  • Conducting regular IT asset audits to uphold data accuracy and compliance.

  • Delivering data centre inductions and maintaining access records to meet safety requirements.

  • Validating technical designs to ensure safe housing and supportability.

  • Providing general technical expertise to all parties operating within the data centre estate.

Experience required:

  • A strong background in providing technical support within a Datacentre environment

  • Strong experience of installing and de-installing IT equipment in data centres.

  • A good working knowledge of all aspects of IT infrastructure, including networks, storage and security.

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems supporting data centres, such as generators, UPS, and cooling systems.

  • Strong abilities with Datacentre cabling, installation, racking and network configuration.

  • ITIL service management knowledge and the ability to work to required SLA's

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Flexibility around working hours and ability to work on a rota basis including out of hours work

  • Due to the nature of the client, it would be an advantage for candidates to hold, or be eligible and willing to undergo, a certain level of security clearance (SC).
