Job description
The Senior Specialist Battery Lifecycle is responsible for overseeing and managing all post-sales lifecycle processes for high-voltage batteries- and components installed in smart electric vehicles. This role serves as the central point of coordination across all stakeholders involved in the lifecycle of these components - including suppliers, service and repair operations, logistics partners, and end-of-life management entities across Europe. Acting as the primary interface for all battery and high-voltage component lifecycle topics, the incumbent ensures seamless cross-functional collaboration, compliance with regulatory and sustainability requirements, and continuous optimization of related processes throughout the entire lifecycle., * Maintain close collaboration with smart Automotive headquarters and high-voltage battery- and component suppliers to implement, review and enhance external provided service- and repair processes, tools and workshop equipment, as well as logistics processes related to high-voltage batteries and components, ensuring full compliance with applicable European standards and regulations
- Develop and implement all required procedures-, processes-, and guidelines for the safe handling-, repair-, service-, and logistics (including Dangerous Goods logistics (ADR)) for high-voltage batteries and components
- Manage and support technical support-, repair-, accident- and recycling cases related to high-voltage batteries and components
- Serve as the internal point of contact and subject matter expert for the development and implementation of high-voltage-related initiatives, including training and qualification programs, field measures, and for the establishment of smart as a DGUV Information 209-093 recognized organization
- Act as the interface towards external parties and suppliers, overseeing the integration and governance of high-voltage battery and component processes for service and repair operations, logistics, and waste reduction treatment - including the negotiation and settlement of corresponding agreements and contracts
- Conduct analyses, identify and develop alternative reatment solutions (e.g., repair concepts, waste reductions such as remanufacturing, second-life applications, and recycling) in alignment with regulatory frameworks and smart's sustainability strategy
- Support the Regulatory Compliance Team in all aspects related to high-voltage batteries and components
Optimization & Documention
- Develop and maintain comprehensive overviews and reportings of all relevant processes within the scope of the defined key responsibilities
- Monitor the market situation and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to define and implement optimized repair methods aimed to ensure a high service level
- Maintain close communication with R&D on technical issues, provide structured feedback, and contribute to continuous improvement of related processes
- Evaluate the efficiency of internal processes with a lean and data-driven mindset, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing corrective and preventive measures where required
- Analyze competitor processes and brand positioning related to high-voltage batteries and components, identifying improvement opportunities and assessing their potential impact in alignment with EU regulations
- Continuously monitor evolving EU legislation and regulatory frameworks concerning high-voltage automotive batteries and components, providing recommendations for necessary adaptations and strategic alignment
Requirements
Do you have experience in SharePoint?, * Degree in either Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- Qualification for working on vehicles with high-voltage systems (FHV Level 2 and/or 3 as per DGUV) is desirable (not mandatory)
Experience:
- Several years of professional experience in the management of high-voltage systems, battery technologies, or electric vehicle lifecycle processes within the automotive industry
- Proven track record in coordinating cross-functional projects involving suppliers, logistics partners, and service organizations, ideally within an international OEM environment
- Sound understanding of European regulations and safety standards for high-voltage batteries, including Dangerous Goods (ADR), environmental compliance, and waste reduction directives
- Experience in developing or implementing service and repair processes, workshop equipment, or logistics concepts for HV components

- Deep technical knowledge of high-voltage battery- and systems, diagnostics, and lifecycle management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a structured and solution-oriented working style
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical, operational, and supplier interfaces
- High sense of responsibility, autonomy, and precision when managing compliance-critical topics
- Strategic mindset with the ability to connect lifecycle processes to sustainability and circular economy goals
- Proficient in standard office and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Power BI, Power-Point, Teams, SharePoint), with ability to create professional presentations and documentation
- Comfortable working with data management systems, dashboards, and reporting tools to support process monitoring and decision-making
- Fluent in English; proficiency in German is an advantage; Chinese language skills are a plus
