Job description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Network Support Engineer to join our IT operations team. This is a full-time, permanent remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the UK. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and uptime., * Provide day-to-day support for network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues across LAN, WAN, and VPN environments.
- Monitor network performance and respond to incidents promptly.
- Manage network changes, updates, and configurations following best practices.
- Support firewall policies, security configurations, and access controls.
- Work with vendors and service providers to coordinate support and resolve escalations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Assist with network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure network security, compliance, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams.
Requirements
Do you have experience in WAN?, * Hands-on experience with network devices (Cisco, Juniper, HP, Fortinet, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, and subnetting.
- Experience troubleshooting LAN/WAN/VPN environments.
- Basic to intermediate experience with firewall technologies (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, FortiGate, etc.).
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
- Ability to analyze packet captures using tools like Wireshark.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Understanding of network security principles.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, JNCIA.
- Experience with SD-WAN solutions.
- Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of VoIP systems and QoS principles.
- Experience with ITIL practices or service management frameworks.
