Job description
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and hands-on IT Manager to oversee day-to-day IT operations and support both scientific and operational activities. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will lead IT operations and contribute to shaping IT strategy, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and scalable., * Oversee daily IT operations, prioritising workloads and resolving user issues with accounts, devices, software, AV, and connectivity.
- Manage IT infrastructure and architecture, including M365, Azure, EDR, networking, backups, storage, and the lifecycle of IT assets.
- Implement and maintain strong cybersecurity measures, achieving and sustaining Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
- Plan, execute, and deliver IT projects, system upgrades, integrations, and process improvements.
- Lead onboarding and offboarding processes, including account creation/removal, device allocation, access management, and internal AV systems.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce IT policies, SOPs, and vendor contracts while managing budgets and procurement.
- Collaborate with internal teams to optimise workflows, support data storage/backup strategies for scientific datasets, and drive digital transformation initiatives.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech sector, including working in a clinical-stage company, and a proven track record in implementing best-practice cyber and data security safeguards. The role is suited to individuals who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment and who demonstrate agility, flexibility, and a positive, can-do attitude to meet deadlines and achieve objectives., * Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years' IT experience in biotech or life sciences, (ideally in clinical-stage companies).
- Strong hands-on technical skills across Microsoft AD/Azure/365, networking, VMware, cloud infrastructure, databases, and storage.
- Experience with endpoint management, EDR/AV, patching, device encryption, and Linux/Unix administration.
- Proven cybersecurity expertise, including implementing controls and obtaining relevant certifications.
- Experience of implementing data classification polices and associated procedures
- Experience deploying and managing IT infrastructure, networks, cloud services, and identity systems.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, able to manage processes end-to-end and explain technical topics to non-technical staff.
- Experience managing external IT providers/MSPs and maintaining thorough documentation, policies, SOPs, and asset registers.
