Job description
Reporting to the Principal Researcher, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and project management support for project delivery in the transport and traffic domain. The role forms part of the wider Delivery team, encompassing responsibility for both research-funded and commercial projects. It focuses on research and innovation, ensuring effective coordination with Aimsun's Delivery, Technology, and Growth teams. You will contribute to the successful execution of committed research initiatives and play an active role in preparing future proposals aligned with Aimsun's strategic objectives. Working arrangement

Based in the Aimsun office in Barcelona, combined with remote working and the option of flexible hours. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Delivery team to execute research projects efficiently, in line with our project management framework.
- Manage smaller projects and/or work packages within larger projects, ensuring milestones, deliverables, and budgets are met.
- Perform R&D activities, including simulation using Aimsun software, study design, analysis, and occasional software coding or model building.
- Prepare and review project specifications, reports, and publications (conference and journal).
- Represent Aimsun at project meetings, conferences, and industry forums, presenting project work as required.
- Contribute to and, when needed, lead Aimsun's involvement in bids for EU-funded and other research projects.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing across research, commercial, and internal projects to strengthen the Delivery team's expertise.
Requirements
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Effective project management skills to handle concurrent research and project activities under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in developing and prototyping new methods, concepts, and models for Aimsun software solutions.
- Excellent communication skills for preparing and presenting technical reports, and engaging with project stakeholders.
- Strong coding skills in Python and/or C++.
- Knowledge of European/national research funding programs.
- Eligibility to work in Spain (EU citizenship or valid work permit).
- MSc in Civil/Traffic Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Science, or related field.
- Prior experience with project administration, management, or proposal writing for research-funded projects.
- PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Transportation Engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong technical background in transport modelling, ideally with Aimsun Next (experience with other modelling software also considered).
