Job description

Tasks
- Manage large health and environmental datasets efficiently.

- Ensure data accuracy, security, and accessibility for the team., The Climate Epidemiology and Public Health Group, led by Prof. Ana Maria Vicedo-Cabrera, addresses the impacts of climate, climate change and related environmental hazards on health with particular focus on the development of adaptation and mitigation strategies, and quantification of health impacts using novel methods in climate epidemiology. We are looking for a data manager to support the team with data collection, cleaning, and processing across different projects.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Lead management of large datasets used by the group, including health and environmental data (i.e., gridded data).
- Coordinate the data collection, with the preparation of applications and contracts with data providers and communication with them, in collaboration with the team lead.
- Preparation of data management protocols and workflows.
- Assist the team members in accessing and processing the data for their research purposes.
- Implement methodologies to download large environmental datasets from open repositories.
- Design and apply advanced methods in GIS and environmental epidemiology for linkage between environmental (i.e., gridded temperature) and health data at different geographical and temporal resolutions.
- Oversee the data maintenance of the team, by ensuring the data accuracy, security and access.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of epidemiologists, statisticians, and environmental data modellers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's in data science; experience with R.
- Proficient in managing large databases and datasets.
- Interest in interdisciplinary research and environmental epidemiology., Mandatory:
- University degree in data science or related field (bachelor's or master's degree).
- Experience in the management of large databases in R, mainly health and environmental data.
- Excellent knowledge of English, written and spoken.
Desired:
- Knowledge of other advanced statistical software such as Python or ArcGIS (or related GIS programs).
- Interest in interdisciplinary research in the areas of environmental epidemiology and statistics.
