Job description
- Consumer experiences - gift card personalization flows, redemption journeys, and delight-driven touchpoints that make gifting magical
- B2B partner portals - self-serve dashboards, analytics views, and integrations that feel as polished as our consumer product
- Marketing & brand - landing pages, campaigns, and storytelling that captures what makes Joy_ different
- Product infrastructure - building and evolving our design system to scale beautifully across all experiences
You'll work closely with our engineering team to bring designs to life, and with our commercial team to ensure every customer touchpoint reflects the Joy_ promise: aesthetics, efficiency, and joy.
In short: You'll own the design DNA of Joy_ - making sure every pixel, flow, and interaction feels effortless and enchanting.
What you'll do
- Design end-to-end experiences - from wireframes and user flows to high-fidelity UI and interactive prototypes
- Build and maintain our design system - creating reusable components, patterns, and guidelines that keep Joy_ consistent and beautiful
- Shape our brand identity - ensuring every touchpoint (web, product, marketing) feels cohesive and unmistakably Joy_
- Collaborate cross-functionally - partner with engineers on implementation, with founders on product strategy, and with commercial teams on customer-facing materials
- Run user research and testing - talk to users, analyze feedback, and iterate based on real insights
- Balance beauty with usability - design interfaces that are not just stunning but intuitive, accessible, and conversion-optimized
- Move fast and iterate - ship designs quickly, learn from real usage, and refine continuously
Requirements
- 2-3 years of professional experience in UI/UX design, ideally in product-focused environments (startups, agencies, or e-commerce)
- Strong UI design skills - you have an exceptional eye for typography, color, layout, spacing, and visual hierarchy
- Solid UX foundation - comfortable creating user flows, wireframes, and prototypes, but you shine brightest when crafting beautiful interfaces
- Figma mastery - you live in Figma and know how to build scalable, well-organized design files
- Design system thinking - experience building or contributing to component libraries and design tokens
- Collaboration mindset - you work well with developers and can communicate design decisions clearly
- German fluency - you're comfortable working in German and English (our team is international, but German-speaking users are core to our audience)
- Portfolio that shows range - from consumer-facing flows to complex dashboards, we want to see your versatility
Nice to have
- Experience designing for e-commerce, fintech, payments, or gifting products
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS (you don't need to code, but understanding constraints helps)
- Motion design or micro-interaction skills
- Illustration or iconography capabilities
- Experience with user research, A/B testing, or analytics tools
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Exposure to brand design or marketing assets
Benefits & conditions
How we work & what you get
- Design ownership from day one - you're not executing someone else's vision. You're shaping ours.
- Small team, big impact - see your designs go live fast and directly influence how thousands experience Joy_
- Remote-first & flexible - work from anywhere in CET ±2h with the freedom to structure your day
- Close collaboration - work directly with founders and a lean, senior team that values your input
- Competitive salary + meaningful equity - we want you to win with us as Joy_ grows
- Purposeful product - build experiences that make giving (and getting) gifts more personal, sustainable, and joyful
How we think
We think like caring jesters - joyful, kind, clever. We challenge the status quo by staying light on our feet and bold in our ambition. Our compass?
