About The Job The Fintech Ancillaries team is the engine behind Hopper's most innovative and high-margin products, such as Cancel for Any Reason and Disruption Assistance. We design, build, and scale backend systems that power these proprietary fintech offerings and integrate them with the world's largest travel companies (airlines, banks, hotels) through our B2B platform, HTS (Hopper Technology Solutions). This role sits at the center of Hopper's B2B strategy, building highly available, globally scaled systems that give millions of travelers peace of mind and drive significant revenue. What Would Your Day-to-Day Look Like * Iterate on features in an agile manner using Scala and React, and technologies like GCP, OpenAPI, BigQuery, Pub/Sub. * Decide how to best build core systems within our microservices architecture. * Ship your first code in days

An Ideal Candidate Has * The ability to bring leading industry techniques and technologies to the table. * A strong understanding of distributed systems and how architectural decisions affect performance and maintainability. * Experience working fluidly with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend Engineers, and other specialists. * Passion for quality, writing testable code that performs and scales. * Ability to work with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty and evolving goals. * Prior experience with cloud, Scala and/or React, and Figma for UX design. * Travel or eCommerce experience is a plus.
