Job description
At Eneco, we're building the energy company of the future - one that's climate neutral by 2035. Our One Planet strategy is among Europe's boldest, focusing on electrification, sustainability, and digitalization. Data is a key part of our transformation. With every data layer and integrated application, you'll help make the invisible visible - and the complex manageable.
At Eneco, we don't just generate clean energy - we manage complex infrastructures that make it flow to millions. As a (Geo) Data Engineer, you'll integrate asset data and make it available to others to run their analysis or forecasts.
From underground heat networks, solar parks or offshore assets, data is the invisible layer connecting our physical and digital worlds. In this role, you'll help the tech efforts on data integrations to make sure we can develop, register, and maintain assets in an efficient way. You'll collaborate with engineers, asset managers, field technicians, and data experts to deliver solutions that drive faster decisions, smarter planning, and better maintenance.
Whether it's enabling remote diagnostics, better designs or predictive maintenance, your work directly impacts Eneco's mission to become climate neutral by 2035.
Developing data integrations and intelligence
Develop data pipelines, APIs and UI components that connect asset registration systems with asset management systems, Digital Twin environments, and Snowflake.
Business understanding Work closely with stakeholders to map critical business processes into solutions. Think of asset development, asset registration, field operations, and asset management.
Driving engineering excellence Help to define coding standards, enforce version control, guide testing strategy, improve data quality checks and setup best practices in data engineering.
Coaching and collaborating Mentor engineers, organize knowledge sharing sessions in community of practice, align with architects, and engage with external vendors. You'll help for all things data - from innovation to incident resolution.
You're passionate about data and technology - you see data and applications as powerful decision engines. You thrive in technically complex environments, love solving for performance at scale, and get energy from transforming legacy processes into modern solutions.
You like responding to business needs, and helping users. And you bring a strong balance of coding skills, system design, and user empathy.
-
Education: A degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, or equivalent hands-on experience.
-
Tech expertise: Strong in Python, SQL, Airflow, REST APIs, or similar ETL/ELT tools.
-
Integration mindset: Experience integrating applications with other systems like Snowflake or Asset platforms.
-
Cloud familiarity: Azure, containerization and SQL databases.
-
Agile way of working: Familiar with Agile/Scrum, software engineering best practices, DevOps principles, Git, and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
-
Optionals: good if you have experience with handling geodata, ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, kafka, SAP, document management systems, or AutoCAD.
You'll join Eneco's Digital & Tech domain, embedded in a team that directly supports asset-heavy operations like district heating, energy production, solar roofs, and urban grid systems. Your work will impact how we manage assets today - and how we plan for tomorrow.
We offer flexible hybrid working from our Rotterdam HQ, and the autonomy to shape how and where you deliver the most value.
