Job description

SNV is seeking a Data Analyst to play a key role in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting and in supporting our Carbon Reduction Plan while also contributing to other technical and business analytics initiatives. The role has a strong focus on establishing end-to-end automation of data collection, transformation, and reporting workflows. The Data Analyst will support the digitisation of sustainability and analytics processes as well as identifying and implementing digital solutions that reduce manual effort, improve data integrity, and enable real-time insights for both sustainability and broader business analytics.

The Data Analyst reports to the Sustainability and Risk Advisor and supports the organisation to make informed business decisions by collecting, organising, and analysing data.

The Governance Data Analyst is appointed in SNV's Global Risk and Compliance Team. The Global Risk and Compliance Team steers, monitors and supports the organisation's corporate compliance (legal, tax, donor contracts and policy coherence oversight), corporate risk and control, contracting and procurement, project execution, sustainability and country logistics to ensure the organisation, country and project teams are compliant to SNV's policies and procedures, legal, tax and donor contractual requirements. The team ensures SNV is in control of its governance, compliance, risk as well as contracting and procurement, project execution, sustainability and country logistics practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carbon Accounting & Sustainability

  • Collect and validate data for GHG emissions from internal and external sources.

  • Maintain carbon footprint calculations using recognised standards (GHG Protocol).

  • Support the Carbon Reduction Plan through automated tracking and reporting dashboards.

  • Drive digitisation initiatives for carbon footprint accounting and analytics, ensuring scalability.

  • Automation & Process Digitisation

  • Identify opportunities to automate end-to-end data collection, transformation, and reporting across sustainability and other business functions.

  • Document automation logic, maintain version control, and establish monitoring and alerting for automated processes.

  • General Data Analytics

  • Perform exploratory and statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.

  • Ensure data quality and governance through validation rules, automated checks, and reconciliation processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and deliver digital solutions.

  • Data Visualisation & Reporting

  • Build interactive dashboards and easy-to-understand visualisations for management and stakeholders.

  • Prepare reports and present findings to management or external audiences.

  • Collaboration

  • Work closely with Legal, Governance, and Contracting & Procurement teams to streamline data management processes and reporting.

In this role you will also contribute proactively to update of the Global Risk and Compliance Team's administrative infrastructure in view of improving efficiency, information sharing and compliance.

The Governance Data Analyst works within specified timeframes, procedures, legislation, and work instructions and adheres to the SNV corporate identity.

Requirements

  • Graduate or master's degree in data Analytics, Business Analytics, Environmental Science, Information Systems or a related field.

  • 2-5 years of professional experience in data analytics or related fields (including internships or academic projects); Demonstrable skills in data visualisation, reporting, and data governance.

  • Proficient in advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualisation tools.

  • Proficiency in Python or other programming languages for scripting and automation.

  • Experience with data governance and quality assurance processes.

  • Strong working expertise in the Microsoft windows environment, including SharePoint, (Advanced) Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, Outlook, PowerApps.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and ability to champion digital transformation.

  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing complex datasets.

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of GHG Protocol and carbon accounting concepts.

  • Exposure to sustainability reporting frameworks

  • Familiarity with carbon accounting platforms or emissions factor databases is a plus.
