Supplying into aerospace, defence and marine industry sectors, our product range is huge and varied. This is a hands-on role focused on developing new products, improving existing designs, and working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Duties
- Design and develop new product concepts through to final production designs
- Modify and improve existing products as directed by the Engineering Manager
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to support product development
- Provide initial design concepts to support the Sales team
- Work closely with Production to ensure efficient assembly and manufacture
- Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives and engineering improvement projects, * Opportunity to work on innovative products from concept to production

- Ongoing development and improvement opportunities, * Design and develop products using CAD (AutoDesk Inventor).
- Produce accurate technical drawings and specifications.
- Collaborate with production to optimise designs for manufacturing.
- Check technical drawings and support the shop floor team.
- Ensure all work meets company standards for quality and detail, * The Electrical Engineer will be part of the engineering activity to support the production, buying and service departments, answering queries and updating product information.
- To provide practical "hands on" assistance on special projects and prototypes and to assist/support the Senior Engineer as requested., * Use of CAD and conventional drawing methods to design, produce/modify circuit and wiring diagrams and assembly information.
- Create, update and maintain information, drawing issues, BOMs, etc. on the ERP system.
- Provide technical support to buying, production and sales service departments.
- Action modification requests (MRNs) and issue concessions to production (departure from drawing - DFDs).
- Release products for production once technical checks have been completed.
- Create and update designs to the latest EU directives and standards.
- Assist on special products as requested via the "blue form" system.
- Assist in building and testing prototypes, including wiring and fault finding.
- Provide factory support for build and testing of products.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities for improved product functionality, quality and/or cost-down activities.
- Support sales with region-specific electrical supply queries and with cables and plugs for orders., * Design and create 3D models for new products using SolidWorks.
- Develop comprehensive SOPs, work instructions, and user/installation manuals.
- Maintain documentation to support production, training, and installation teams.
- Create illustrated parts catalogues for use across all departments.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and FMEA documentation processes.
- Liaise cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams.
- Assist in implementing improvements to streamline manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to efficiently manage technical enquiries.
- Support a strong H&S and compliance culture through consistent documentation., The Manufacturing Design Engineer will design and develop new products, from concept to final approval. Technically support customers and the manufacturing base. Analyse existing products and identify areas to improve product design and reduce costs., * The Manufacturing Design Engineer will process new enquiries for the design department, ensuring all necessary follow-up action has been adhered to such as enquiry processing, delivery of quotation/design proposal for new contract research & consultancy.
- Develop close working relationships with clients and ensuring client liaison is continually adhered to.
- Undertake design and engineering analysis and support activity including FEA (dynamic, non-linear) on design projects within the department and as a dedicated service.
- Development and detailing of product design and engineering support from concept through to detailed design and manufacturing implementation, support as required across a broad spectrum of manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Undertake project management as directed by the Design Director. All project management activity to comply with industry guidelines and ensure good client liaison, budget management and the completion of project deliverables to agreed timescales.
- To perform stress and strain calculations to recognised formulae and clearly layout workings to allow colleagues to interpret and validate the design., * Deriving the required electronics architecture, performance specification for the overall system from the product functional requirements.
- Following the NPD process to prove out concepts, technology demonstrators through to pre-production & production units including Quality assurance through automated testing.
- Generating the necessary supporting documentation to introduce the product into manufacturing.
- To lead in Electronics/systems project design reviews.
- Contributing to overall program planning & execution.
- Assisting Project leader in planning and risk management., * Ensuring safe working practices across laboratory and factory environments.
- Applying expertise in colour theory, dyeing techniques, and colourfastness.
- Evaluating raw materials using knowledge of their properties and how they react to different processing conditions.
- Supporting production with problem solving, technical insights and guidance.
- Operating laboratory and pilot equipment with sound understanding of lab protocols.
- Driving R&D projects independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
- Communicating effectively and use available tools to develop innovative textile solutions.
- Using available resources to investigate, recommend and develop innovative products / solutions and contribute to continuous improvement., * Working in a busy engineering environment, you'll carry out a wide range of tasks including:
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Reactive fault finding and repairs
- Machine building, rebuilds and installation (in house)
- Supporting continuous improvement and reliability projects
- This is not just a maintenance job - it's a varied engineering role where your practical experience and initiative will be fully utilised to help keep the site running efficiently and improve equipment performance over time., * Maintain compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and standards.
- Lead audits, inspections, and risk assessments, driving continuous improvement.
- Oversee ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems, documentation, and KPIs.
- Manage COSHH assessments, safety walk-throughs, and emergency procedures.
- Investigate incidents and near misses using 8D and root cause analysis.
- Champion sustainability and Net Zero initiatives.
- Chair Health & Safety Committee meetings and communicate results across the business.
- Lead the implementation and integration of IATF 16949 with our ISO 9001 QMS.
- Maintain and continually improve existing quality management systems.
- Manage internal and third-party audits, ensuring corrective actions are delivered.
- Develop documentation, process plans, and procedures to meet compliance standards.
- Monitor and report key Quality KPIs (scrap, rework, complaints, audit findings).
- Oversee supplier quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate Management Reviews and drive best practice across all operations, We are seeking a CABINET MAKER to join our growing team, in order to deliver high quality finished on bespoke projects.

Requirements
- Experience using 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Basic understanding of GD&T
- Ability to carry out tolerance stack calculations
- To have some exposure of working within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage time effectively, * Good CAD knowledge (AutoDesk Inventor preferred, but not essential)
- Knowledge of metals and machining processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
- Understanding of GD&T principles.
- Mechanical Engineering degree (or similar) though not essential
- Experience in machining, BOM creation, and technical documentation, would be nice, but again, not essential, * Minimum 5+ years' experience ideally.
- CAD / Electrical Design experience.
- Proven hands-on experience, including building and testing prototypes, wiring and fault finding.
- Rectifying any issues following testing.
- Able to work on your own initiative., * SolidWorks (3D CAD) proficiency and the ability to produce manufacturing-ready models and drawings.
- Working knowledge of BS8888 & ISO128 drawing standards.
- Familiar with manufacturing techniques (e.g. machining, bending, pressing, vacuum forming, etc.).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills (8D, 5 Whys, etc.).
- Confident liaising with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experienced in creating training materials, SOPs, or process documents.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Degree (or equivalent) in a technical, mechanical, or design discipline., * Creo experience would be ideal, but any 3D design proficiency would be considered.
- Degree qualified - Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar.
- MathCAD experience is desirable. Besides this, any proven experience of calculations would be useful.
- Demonstrable experience from a Manufacturing or Machining environment ideally.
- Knowledge of different materials, manufacturing processes and assembly methods.
- A problem solver, with previous experience dealing directly with customers, preparing technical specifications and presenting proposals.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at any one time.
- Able to oversee and manage suppliers as required within a project's development., * You will have a proven track record of hands-on product design, embedded systems, modules, and full product architecture.
- Sound knowledge of motor drives and controls.
- Experience of taking transducer signals from conditioning through embedded processing through to graphical display.
- Demonstrable, thorough, analytical skills reinforced with practical problem-solving abilities.
- Pre-compliance design & testing (EMI, ESD, etc.).
- DfX (Design for Reliability, Serviceability & Manufacturability).
- Proven track record for prototyping & transfer to production.
- Familiar with PCB layout software packages, etc., * You will have a science-based degree level or above.
- Strong understanding of raw materials, R&D processes, and lab equipment, including safe lab practices and experimental design.
- Project management experience and be skilled at planning, prioritising, and delivering R&D projects on time, often juggling multiple tasks.
- Deliver clear and effective communication in sharing ideas, writing reports, and collaborating across departments.
- Demonstrate precision in laboratory work, documentation, and quality control is essential.
- The ability to interpret data, troubleshoot issues, and draw meaningful conclusions from experiments.
- Demonstrate curiosity and creativity to explore new ideas, develop novel solutions, and improve existing products
- Adaptability and Teamwork: Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities and new challenges, with the ability to work autonomously when needed, but also thrive in cross-functional teams utilising collaboration skills.
Product Development Technologist Desirable Experience
Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferable. Experience in textiles, dying or colourist experience., Due to an upcoming retirement, were looking to add a versatile and experienced Maintenance Engineer to our established team.
