Job description

We are recruiting for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering and technology-focused organisation based in Telford. This is a key position within the engineering team, responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs while providing technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers.

The successful candidate will play a central role in complex projects, from concept through to completion, ensuring designs meet technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design of projects from initial concept through to final delivery
  • Produce and review electrical schematics, layouts, calculations, and specifications
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and client requirements
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and design support to graduate and junior engineers
  • Conduct and participate in design reviews and technical risk assessments
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, controls, and project engineering
  • Support manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards

Requirements

Do you have experience in Mentoring?, * Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

  • Significant experience in an electrical design engineering role within an industrial or technology-driven environment
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems
  • Proficient in electrical design and CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar)
  • Thorough understanding of UK and international electrical standards and regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills

Desirable

  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status (IEng or CEng)
  • Experience with complex, bespoke, or project-based engineering solutions
