Job description
As a Senior Cloud Engineer (SC), you will join a growing National Security practice delivering secure, cloud-native solutions to Government and National Security customers. The Senior Cloud Engineer (SC) will design, build, and support scalable cloud environments, while also influencing standards, best practices, and technical direction.
This role offers hybrid working from Gloucester and provides scope for senior engineers to take on leadership responsibility across projects and teams.
What You'll Be Doing as a Senior Cloud Engineer (SC)
- Design and build cloud-native architectures for secure National Security environments
- Deploy and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
- Create, manage, and optimise AWS-based infrastructure and environments
- Apply configuration management using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Work with container orchestration platforms including Kubernetes, ECS, or OpenShift
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver secure solutions
- Leverage AWS security services and enforce cloud security best practices
- Create reusable implementation patterns and reference architectures
- Manage source control and software configuration across projects
- For senior-level candidates, lead engineers or small delivery teams
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer (SC) or Cloud Engineer in secure or regulated environments
- Strong hands-on expertise across AWS services, with a commitment to staying current
- Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
- Understanding of networking concepts and software-defined networking in the cloud
- Experience with container orchestration technologies
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Bash, Go)
- AWS certifications beneficial but not essential (training and certification support provided)
Security Clearance
- SC clearance is required for this role
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain SC clearance prior to starting
- Applicants must have the permanent and unrestricted right to work in the UK
