Job description
We are seeking a seasoned AWS Cloud Architect to play a pivotal role in my clients customer digital transformation. You will be responsible for eliciting requirements for cloud-native architectures, defining reusable patterns, and ensuring the successful migration of critical systems to AWS for an organization central to UK National Security.
In this role, you won't just move data; you will shape the standards, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices that will define the future of our client's cloud ecosystem.
What Your Days Will Look Like
As the technical lead for migration enablement, you will act as the bridge between high-level strategy and hands-on engineering.
- Technical Leadership: Take the lead on migration enablement, driving collaboration across development teams to deliver services using common code, standards, and artifacts.
- Architecture Design: Define and document baseline and target AWS architectures, roadmaps, patterns, and reference architectures across a wide range of use cases.
- Automation & Excellence: Proactively define, optimize, and automate deployment patterns to ensure migrations are scalable and repeatable.
- Assurance & Reviews: Conduct regular architectural reviews of the platform to ensure it is "Well-Architected" and leverages the latest vendor technologies.
- Engineering Support: Serve as an escalation point for troubleshooting and incident management, while supporting engineering teams in optimizing their migration paths.
- Global Knowledge Sharing: Document deployed systems and scripts to enable reuse and support for users across the globe
Requirements
You are a subject matter expert in AWS who thrives in complex, multi-account environments and enjoys setting new standards for efficiency.
- AWS Expertise: Significant experience in AWS Platform Architecture, specifically defining reference architectures and patterns within large-scale estates.
- Migration Track Record: Proven experience successfully migrating legacy workloads to cloud-native AWS environments.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Proficient with modern DevOps tools and automated pipeline integration.
- Security & Networking: Strong understanding of AWS security services, network services, and core cyber security goals.
- Agile Mindset: Experience working effectively within an Agile framework.
- Communication & Leadership: Ability to motivate teams to adopt new tools, break down technical barriers, and communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Security Clearance: Due to the nature of this work, Security Clearance (SC/DV) is required. If you do not currently hold clearance, you must be eligible and willing to undergo the vetting process.
