Core Digital Service – Benefit Payment Services

This team maintains DWP’s Core (legacy) Services, paying £150 billion to over 15 million citizens annually. You’ll lead technical delivery across complex digital environments, managing cross-cutting projects and infrastructure/software upgrades. Working closely with our security manager, you’ll plan and coordinate patches and upgrades to keep applications secure.

Hybrid Cloud Services

Join Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS) and help deliver one of Europe’s biggest digital transformations, implementing cutting-edge technologies with users at the heart. As part of the HCS Database Platforms team, you’ll lead end-to-end delivery of multiple projects at pace, working with Engineers to ensure success. You’ll manage risks, issues, and dependencies, reporting progress to the HCS Programme Board. Our team supports critical services impacting millions, driving the shift from on-premise to cloud with automation at the core for innovation and efficiency., You’ll be an experienced Senior Digital Project Manager, who will lead the end-to-end delivery of large scale complex digital change.

You'll lead the team to ensure project controls are in place, managing plans, risks, issues and dependencies to effective resolution.

You’ll lead the team in ensuring you manage appropriate governance and reporting to Digital Directors, communicating and taking ownership of resolving complex issues while influencing decisions that require board level approval.

You’ll manage a varied stakeholder environment, setting the pace for delivery and working with internal teams and/or external suppliers to deliver successfully.

You’ll manage team dynamics, coaching teams to improve flow, quality and ownership throughout the team. Dealing with conflict and help establish a positive team culture.

You’ll take responsibility for your own learning and development, especially in project management practice, digital frameworks and technologies in an increasingly agile environment, alongside coaching and mentoring your team and the wider delivery community to establish standards for processes and tools., Ensure that all examples provided in your statements are taken directly from your own experience and that you describe the examples in your own words. Requirements

Do you have experience in VBA?, * Influential, able to communicate and lead with impact across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, tailoring messages to ensure that it is right for the audience.

  • Extensive experience and proven track record in motivating peers to deliver at pace and set a positive team environment. Be able to engage to resolve difficult relationships and support teams to overcome conflicts.
  • Detailed working knowledge and adept at spotting project risks and blockers to work at removing or action them. Be able to solve or escalate issues quickly and effectively, identifying themes and help the team learn from experience.
  • Significant demonstrable experience of procurement, commercial and supplier management and managing budgets. Be a creative and effective planner – both internal and external to team – optimising speed to market, value and quality.
  • Adaptable and with proven ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions and to cope effectively with complexity and change.
  1. Technical statement (up to 250 words). The following statement is aligned to the required technical skill of Project Management.
  • Please demonstrate that you have proven experience of managing technical change programmes for large complex IT systems and advanced understanding the project management lifecycle and experience of leading project deliveries end-to-end, often managing the delivery of several projects simultaneously, ideally within a large-scale organisation., Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. Hybrid Working

This role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.

If a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for the role and for you, you will normally be required to spend a minimum of 60% of your contracted working hours from your DWP office.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £57,946 to £68,205.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer will maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion will move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or receive a 10% increase in salary, whichever is greater.

There is one role in each of the following teams: • Core Digital Service Benefit Payment Services team is based in either Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne or Sheffield. • Hybrid Cloud Services Team based in either Blackpool, Manchester or Newcastle-upon-Tyne. • Low Code team and it is based in either Blackpool, Manchester or Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
