Job description
We're looking for a UX consultant to join our multidisciplinary team designing and delivering innovative, user-centred digital products and public services for Government and Private Sector clients., * Designs simple, intuitive, and accessible digital services and content that meet user needs and business objectives.

Takes an end-to-end view of services, creating effective, user-centred interactions and content across channels.

Writes, edits, and iterates content to meet user needs, including pair-writing with colleagues or stakeholders.

Devises and tests different content formats (ux microcopy, forms, guidance, emails, notifications) tailored to user needs and context.

Rapidly prototypes, tests, and iterates both content and interaction solutions using a range of techniques, including paper, digital, and code-based prototypes (e.g., GOV.UK Prototype Kit).

Produces clear artefacts such as user flows, scenarios, wireframes, journey maps, interaction designs, content drafts, and prototypes.

Facilitates workshops, co-design sessions, and user testing to explore problems, generate ideas, and validate solutions.

Works collaboratively within agile, multidisciplinary teams alongside developers, researchers, product managers, and stakeholders.

Guides and influences senior stakeholders to make user-centred decisions, using research, testing, and evidence from both content and interaction perspectives.

Iterates content and interaction design to be usable by all, based on user feedback, usability testing, analytics, and service data.

Ensures high standards of usability, accessibility, inclusivity, content comprehension and plain language, in line with WCAG and GOV.UK design and style standards.

Contributes to design systems, content guidelines and interaction standards, maintaining consistency across services and interfaces. Supports service transformation, improving the efficiency, speed, and usability of digital services.

Demonstrates practical experience of working to the Government Service Standard.

- Excellent verbal, written, and facilitation skills, able to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong technical literacy, able to understand high-level technical processes, constraints, and concepts.
- Recognises and works within project constraints, supporting teams to deliver value to clients and users.
- Supports and coaches teams and stakeholders in user-centred design, content design, and agile ways of working.
- Contributes to internal culture, tools, processes, and capability development.
Company development
- Contributes to the development of the Design practice and community
- Supports thought leadership, case studies, and insights showcasing expertise in both content and interaction design.
- Mentors, coaches, supports and manages colleagues
- Contributes to client proposals and presentations to help win new projects.

Candidates should be open to working in different locations for different clients. While most work is remote, candidates should be happy to meet in our London office and travel as client needs dictate.

- Ability to map, manage, and engage with different stakeholder groups.
- Ability to carry out user research across internal and external user groups, utilising different research methods as appropriate to the situation to elicit needs and feedback.
- Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative forms of data and communicate insights concisely to engage stakeholder buy-in to data-informed decisions.
- Ability to define key metrics and measurements to evaluate the impact of products and services and to support product owners in using this data to iterate and improve the user experience.
