Job description
This is a senior, hands-on position with full technical ownership of the company's Magento 2 ecommerce platform and its supporting infrastructure. You'll work across multiple storefronts, integrations, and backend systems, ensuring the platform remains stable, secure, and continually improving.
You'll build custom modules, resolve complex issues, support marketplace integrations, and collaborate with teams across the business to enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Magento 2 Platform Ownership
- Own the stability, performance, and evolution of the Magento 2 platform
- Design, build, and maintain custom Magento modules and backend functionality
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently
- Manage hosting, databases, and core web services supporting Magento
- Plan and deliver platform upgrades and architectural improvements
- Ensure strong security, monitoring, and incident-response processes
- Deliver new features and additional storefronts across European markets
Integrations & Backend Systems
- Manage data flows between Magento, ERP, middleware, marketplaces, and analytics tools
- Maintain and enhance APIs, webhooks, imports/exports, and cron processes
- Support time-critical backend jobs and automation workflows
- Ensure data accuracy across stock, pricing, orders, and customer information
Marketplaces, Feeds & Data
- Support integrations with eBay, Amazon, and Google Merchant Centre
- Maintain catalogue and inventory consistency across all channels
- Support SQL queries and data sources feeding BI and reporting tools
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Magento 2 (Open Source)
- Excellent PHP and MySQL skills
- Deep understanding of Magento architecture, APIs, and ORM
- Confident with Git/Bitbucket and structured deployment workflows
- Experience supporting production ecommerce systems
- Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of ecommerce security and compliance best practices
- Strong working knowledge of PHP, MySQL, Python, HTML/CSS/JS
- Awareness of data privacy and security considerations
- Experience with MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server
Desirable
- Middleware or integration-heavy background
- Experience with Varnish, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
- Magento certification
- Familiarity with AWS or Cloudflare
- Knowledge of ecommerce infrastructure (servers, databases, CMS, web apps)
