Job description

We're excited to be growing our team by offering a fantastic opportunity to join Provident IT as an IT Support Technician based in Leicestershire. As a valued member of our growing managed services team, you'll deliver top-notch IT solutions to a diverse portfolio of clients across various sectors. Providing the best level of customer service to our clients and their end users is our biggest focus with anything we do, so your role will focus on directly engaging with customers to provide exceptional 2nd/3rd line technical support, both remotely and on-site (with expenses covered). Plus, you'll collaborate closely with our team on planning and implementing cutting-edge projects. Join us and make a real impact in shaping the future of IT services., * Serve as an escalation point for 1st and 2nd line support escalations.

  • Provide end user technical support and assistance both remotely and on-site when required.
  • Perform planning, implementation and assist with management of IT Projects.
  • Installation, configuration & maintenance of hardware like PC's, Servers, and networking equipment.
  • Educate clients and internal teams on best practices.
  • Record all activities within a PSA & Ticketing system.
  • Develop and maintain existing relationships with a handful of clients.
  • Work with clients to understand their objectives and challenges and proposing solutions.
  • Keep up to date with the latest vendor technologies and best practices.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a GCSE?, * Possess an enthusiastic 'can-do' attitude and be able to independently approach an unfamiliar problem logically, before escalating to other team members with a coherent diagnosis.

  • Have at least 4 years' professional experience of supporting desktops and carrying out basic server administration, preferably within a Managed Services IT environment.
  • Have a high degree of people skills and technical competence, with a strong learning aptitude and a confident ability to logically diagnose problems.
  • Have an excellent work ethic with the ability to manage and prioritise your own working time.
  • Be approachable, intelligent, able to remain calm under pressure and have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have a general understanding of Networking & DNS, telephony systems, and website/email hosting.
  • Be willing to undertake some out of hours work in maintaining client infrastructure where absolutely required.
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence.

Essential Experience:

  • A wide variety of experience resolving and diagnosing Windows issues
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft 365 services (examples include Exchange, EndPoint Manager, Azure and SharePoint)
  • Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server 2016-2025 as well as basic Active Directory and Group Policy knowledge
  • An understanding of TCP/IP networking and related infrastructure.

Preferable (but not essential) experience:

  • Knowledge of VoIP Telephony (We predominantly use 3CX)
  • Webhosting technologies (cPanel/WHM, MySQL)
  • Experience supporting MacOS & mobile devices such as iOS and Android
  • Linux CLI administration, * GCSE or equivalent (required), * Professional IT Support: 4 years (required)
  • Customer service: 4 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • UK Driving License (required)
