Job description

We are seeking an AVEVA CAD Support Engineer to join our engineering systems team, supporting design teams working on complex, regulated engineering projects in our Nuclear portfolio. The role focuses on the effective use, configuration, and development of AVEVA E3D and associated CAD tools, working closely with engineers, digital teams, and international design offices to ensure consistent, efficient, and high-quality delivery.

Some of the main responsibilities of the AVEVA CAD Support Engineer will include:

  • Provide specialist engineering support for AVEVA E3D and associated CAD tools, supporting design teams across complex, regulated engineering projects.
  • Coordinate and manage CAD activities, including new requests, issue resolution, and day-to-day support for a large user base operating multiple CAD environments.
  • Own file structures, scripts, configurations, and CAD resources, ensuring consistency, performance, and alignment with agreed engineering standards.
  • Act as a key interface between engineering teams, international design offices, and internal digital / systems support functions, maintaining effective communication and continuity of service.
  • Define, propose, and track improvement plans and roadmaps for CAD tool usage, configuration, and ways of working.
  • Develop and maintain macros, scripts, and custom tools to respond quickly to evolving engineering and delivery needs.
  • Deliver training, guidance, and technical support to end users, helping teams use AVEVA E3D effectively and consistently.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting to internal technical leadership, contributing to the ongoing development of Vulcain's engineering systems capability.

Requirements

Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:

  • Proven experience working as an engineering focused E3D / PDMS user, or support engineer within a complex engineering or project environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of E3D, including model setup, configuration, data management, and support of multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience developing or maintaining macros, scripts, or automation tools to improve engineering efficiency (e.g. PML, scripting, or similar).
  • Strong communication skills, with experience working across distributed or international teams.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and manage competing requests in a project-driven environment.
  • Reside locally to Bristol or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.

Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).
