Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Desktop Support Technician to join our IT support team. The successful candidate will provide essential assistance in maintaining and troubleshooting desktop and network systems across our organisation. The position is paid and suitable for individuals eager to enhance their IT support skills within a professional setting., * Provide technical support for desktop, laptop, and peripheral hardware across Windows and macOS platforms.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, including operating system problems, application errors, and network connectivity concerns.
  • Assist with the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of computer hardware and software using tools such as SCCM and BMC Remedy.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions within Active Directory, including password resets and access rights adjustments.
  • Support network infrastructure components such as LAN, VPN, DNS, TCP/IP, firewall configurations, and TCP protocols to ensure seamless connectivity.
  • Monitor system performance and security, implementing updates or patches as required.
  • Document support requests and resolutions using ServiceNow or Jira ticketing systems.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to improve system efficiency and security protocols.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with end-users at all levels of technical understanding.

Requirements

Do you have experience in macOS?, * Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN, TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and TCP protocols.

  • Proven experience in desktop support within a Windows environment; familiarity with macOS is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server environments and Active Directory management.
  • Experience with software troubleshooting across various operating systems; knowledge of Linux is a plus.
  • Familiarity with enterprise management tools such as SCCM and BMC Remedy for system deployment and issue tracking.
  • Ability to support computer hardware components effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Experience using ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Jira for issue tracking and resolution documentation.
  • Analytical skills to diagnose complex technical problems efficiently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications for user support purposes.
  • Understanding of networking protocols including LAN, TCP/IP, DNS; experience with Cisco or similar network equipment is desirable.
