Job description

We are currently recruiting for the position of Head of Data and Analytics to join our team. This is a key leadership role focused on driving data strategy and delivering actionable insights across the business.

You will lead, develop and implement business intelligence initiatives to continuously improve accessibility and usability of data across the organisation and provide analytical oversight where required to support commercial, business development, and operational programmes.

We're looking for a strategic leader with exceptional people management skills who can inspire and develop the team. A key part of this role will be to harmonise team workloads and align resources to drive success and meet evolving business needs. You will demonstrate initiative, operate independently with confidence, and take responsibility for driving results.

Duties include:

  • Analyse, present for recommendation and implement initiatives to improve accessibility and usability of data across SYNLAB UK and Ireland and Synnovis.
  • Design and drive forward a 'One SYNLAB' approach to data and analytics across all parts of the UK businesses.
  • In collaboration with SYNLAB Group and UK IT Analytics leadership, develop enhancements in our approach to data consolidation (including but not limited to Power BI), structures and reporting to transform the way information is analysed and presented across UK laboratories.
  • Provide analytical oversight where required to support commercial, business development, and operational programmes. This will include work to align reporting and pricing mechanisms across all parts of the company.
  • Act as the UK interface to SYNLAB Group in relation to all data and analytical matters to ensure UK requirements are fed into international strategies.
  • Manage team to deliver accurate and timely reporting and information and data support across the UK and Ireland
  • Ensure local laboratory teams have the necessary skills and knowledge to meet their local data and reporting needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or IT studies
  • Advanced technical skill and training in the following specialist areas:
  • Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • At least one other data visualisation tool
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Data and Information Strategy
  • Highly numeric with significant experience in manipulating and interpreting large amounts of data
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with management, colleagues, customers and suppliers
  • Strong management skills, with previous experience of line managing analytical staff
  • Excellent commercial awareness and strong financial capability
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

Desirable:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the health sector
  • Technical skill and training in the following specialist areas: SAP Business Objects
  • Experience working with NHS and/or private sector health providers
  • Knowledge and understanding of CliniSys WinPath
  • Preferred post graduate qualification, MSc Data Sciences or equivalent
